En la actualidad, ya no se utiliza Internet solo para mandar correos electrónicos, chatear o visitar páginas; la Sociedad de la Información (SI) de Manuel Castells, es un reclamo a la modernidad, un reclamo que busca un espacio social con cabida para todos, plasmándose en lo que hoy se conoce como Web 2.0.
El proceso de socialización que se impone como vector del movimiento de cambio genero una nueva dimensión comunicacional, transformando a las tradicionales páginas web estáticas (Web 1.0) donde sus visitantes solo podían leer los contenidos ofrecidos por su autor o editor, en la nueva estructura comunicacional (Web 2.0) en donde todos los cibernautas pueden elaborar contenidos y compartirlos, opinar, etiquetar, clasificar, etc., lo cual supone una democratización de las herramientas de acceso a la información y de elaboración de contenidos (ver tabla 1.0).

Hablar de la web 2.0 en la educación es partir de un enfoque metodológico de aprendizaje que propone la construcción del conocimiento en base a la participación colectiva del grupo, en contraste a una organización vertical de los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje, su utilización propone una visión completamente horizontal, donde el aprendizaje del grupo se supedita al individual.
A partir de un análisis macro de las posibilidades que presenta la Web 2.0 en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje con herramientas de libre uso en la gestión y almacenamiento de contenidos educativos podemos mencionar aplicaciones como las wiki, blogs, foros, grupos de trabajo, ofimática en línea, etc.(ver tabla Nº 2)
Las wikis permiten al alumno consultas y búsquedas rápidas de contenidos internos y externos, por otro lado la edición rápida de los contenidos permite que su uso sea transparente; en este tipo de plataformas de trabajo el alumno puede tomar notas, escribir borradores de una manera rápida, con una interfaz realmente simple. Por otro lado el alumno concentra sus esfuerzos en el contenido, sin preocuparse del aspecto visual final del documento, ya que las plantillas se encargan de dar un aspecto visual coherente a todos los documentos, por otro lado gracias a la cronología de versiones se verifica cuál es la actividad del alumno o grupo de alumnos que están desarrollando documentación, esto permite también acceder a versiones anteriores
Entre las plataformas wiki, la más conocida es MediaWiki. Però también encontramos otras plataformas wiki, quizá menos conocidas, pero no menos potentes como,Wikimatrix, Dokuwiki, Phpwiki, etc.
Otra de las herramientas conocidas para el trabajo colaborativo son los weblogs/blogs/bitácoras, los cuales constituyes herramientas poderosas de publicación personal y colectiva. A diferencia de un diario personal, el blog es una publicación generalmente individual, pero de uso colectivo. Las entradas, ordenadas cronológicamente de la más reciente a la más antigua, pueden ser comentadas por otros estudiantes y profesores, dar su opinión, sugerir o ayudar si el responsable del blog plantea un problema.
Ser conscientes de ser leídos y comentados, nos empuja a cuidar la ortografía, mejorar el estilo de redacción, sentirse dentro de una comunidad que observa y lee, y que es observada y leída.
Existen grandes posibilidades didácticas como por ejemplos síntesis o proyectos de investigación en grupo/individual: la secuencia cronológica de los contenidos, la visualización colectiva, las orientaciones del conjunto docente, la aportación colectiva de documentación, referencias, posibles debates, organización de los contenidos, clasificación, incorporación de contenidos visuales, entre otros, hacen de los blogs una herramienta fundamental para proyectar actividades didáctico-pedagógicas.
Con respecto a las actividades relacionadas con la ofimática, la nueva arquitectura de trabajo on-line dispone de utilidades con grandes potencialidades de trabajo entre las que podemos citar a Zoho, Google Calendar, GoogleDocs, AjaxWrite, entre otras tantas, generando una nueva forma de trabajo, la cual ofrece ventajas tales como trabajar independientemente del sistema operativo, exportación a diferentes formatos (PDF, ODT, RTF, DOC, HTML), pero una de la ventaja más sobresaliente es la edición colaborativa de un mismo documento.
En cuanto al acceso a la información la web 2.0 marca una diferencia fundamental con la utilidad denominada “RSS” (Really Simply Sindication); a partir de ella el usuario sólo tiene que agregarse mediante un lector de noticias ( Google Reader, Bloglines, Alesti o Rezzibo) que gestionará las entradas que vayamos recibiendo en forma de resumen. Esta metodología nos permitiría tener una visión rápida del flujo de información diaria de de los sitios que estamos agregados por afinidades o intereses comunes.
La utilización de los RSS en las prácticas educativas es obvio: no hablamos sólo del centro educativo sino de los actores de la comunidad educativa como emisor/agregador de noticias, entradas, contenidos. La sindicación, frente a un envío masivo y sordo de correo electrónico, permitiría conocer situaciones, prácticas, discusiones o referencias que, de otro modo, resultaría inabarcable por las partes implicadas.
Los desarrollos tecnológicos de los ordenadores hacen cada vez más fácil registrar la voz, videos sobre determinadas acciones de pantalla y, posteriormente compartir estos registros en la red, estas acciones se conocen en la nueva Red como “screeancasting”, esta posibilidad se ha convertido en una de las técnicas metodológicas didácticas más habituales para mostrar, demostrar y enseñar el funcionamiento de un determinado software, ejemplos del “cómo se hace…” , explicación de problemas, etc.
La información se expande exponencialmente esta situación hace necesario organizar nuestros sitios preferidos y poder compartirlos al mundo entero y acceder a los sitios favoritos de cada usuario de internet, esta acción se conoce como folksonomías, indicando la práctica del etiquetaje mediante software social de algún objeto susceptible de información (Flick, 43 Things, del.icio.us, Tagzania, Livemarks); sobre las folksonomías se estructura el concepto “Tag Cloud” o nube de etiquetas, permitiendo diferenciar rápidamente cuáles son las etiquetas más utilizadas para clasificar el contenido.
Su empleo educativo más inmediato pasa por la conexión de contenidos a través de etiquetas, como acción colectiva de la comunidad educativa; de esta manera la clasificación y ordenamiento de materiales didácticos, recursos y otros contenidos de enseñanza y aprendizaje descansa tanto en la variedad y la conexión de etiquetas que los alumnos y docentes utilicen siguiendo su propio criterio, como en las sugerencias que otros ya hayan marcado previamente.
La Web 2.0 es la transición que se ha dado de aplicaciones tradicionales hacia aplicaciones colaborativas y de servicios que reemplacen las aplicaciones de escritorio, constituyendo una etapa que ha definido nuevos proyectos en Internet “, en donde las competencias que hoy deben disponer los nuevos usuarios trascienden a la lectura y la escritura, las nuevas aplicaciones 2.0 requieren habilidades cognitivas para la catalogación y organización de la información, en base a categorías conceptuales que operan en un nivel meta- comunicativo”.
Para quienes consideramos las experiencias educativas estas posibilidades de interacción se ofrecen como un gran campo propicio y fértil para poner en práctica estrategias de enseñanza y aprendizaje que se orienten a la construcción colectiva de significados en donde las herramientas acompañan a los proyectos pedagógicos.
